Sugar and Scribe is a quaint bakeshop located in the heart of downtown La Jolla. Voted the best bakery by San Diego Magazine and La Jolla Village News the bakery serves freshly made bread, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and cakes. All of their pastries and bread are made in-house daily and they use all seasonal and local ingredients. Some of their year-round favorites include their blackberry & cheese danish, eclairs, and apple turnovers.
If you want a coffee with your morning croissant Sugar and Scribe serves coffee from Dark Horse Roasters, a San Diego coffeehouse and roaster. They also have a restaurant where they serve breakfast and lunch all day. Sugar and Scribe is located at 7660 Fay Avenue I and they are open every day from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Brick and Bell
Brick and Bell is a cafe located in the heart of downtown La Jolla. The restaurant is known among locals for its beautiful outdoor patio situated in the cafe’s garden. Brick and Bell bakes all of their loaves of bread and pastries in-house daily and they have a large selection of gluten-free pastries.
In addition to their pastries, they also serve fresh fruit smoothies, sandwiches, and salads. Brick and Bell is open during the week from 6 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. The cafe is located at 928 Silverado St.
Girard Gourmet
Girard Gourmet European is one of the best La Jolla Bakeries and deli that has been serving farm-to-table dishes in downtown La Jolla for more than 25 years. Many of the ingredients they use come from their organic garden in Julian, CA. All of their pastries, loaves of bread, and dishes are baked fresh each day and they use all local and seasonal ingredients. In addition to their fresh baked pastries, they also serve salads and sandwiches using their homemade bread.
Girard Gourmet is located at 7837 Girard Ave. They are open Monday – Saturday from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
