You want to eat where the locals eat and lap up the La Jolla vibe as you sample the foods special to our region, and we don’t blame you one bit. Here’s some of our local quick eats in La Jolla.
WhiskeynLadle Bistro & Bar, 1044 Wall Street
Bright and airy and offering an elegant vibe, the all-white walls, high ceilings, and exposed bulb lighting makes the WhiskeynLadle an exciting place to visit, while the meals they serve will remind you of home. Offering burgers, chicken, and seafood that is all locally sourced, there’s no pretense here; this spot just offers simple food cooked well. We especially love the mussels. What’s your favorite going to be?
The Taco Stand, 621 Pearl Street
Taco Tuesday can be every day of your vacation when you visit this no-frills taco joint that also serves churros, burritos, and beer! When you think about it, the food here is so delicious, there really isn’t any need to eat anywhere else. After you try the chorizo and egg burrito, we think you will agree!
The Cottage La Jolla, 7702 Fay Avenue
What kind of food can you expect to get from a restaurant named the Cottage? Pancakes with fresh blueberries, salads made from the freshest local ingredients, and seafood that was probably swimming around the waters that surround us earlier this morning! The food isn’t fancy, but it’s good and it’s real, and the patio at the Cottage offers a great spot to enjoy the food, the conversation, and the people watching that makes California so unique! It’s definitely one of the best local quick eats in La Jolla!
The Spot, 1005 Prospect Street
Looking for an evening of fun, food, and frivolity? The Spot is our favorite Tuesday night, well, spot! Featuring bar food, refreshing beverages, and a fireplace for those rare chilly nights, this local bar is the one you feel at home in from your first step inside its doors!

When you are planning your trip to La Jolla, you are probably doing so because of the wonderful beaches and the endless other opportunities that the town’s vibrant culture brings. But once you visit, the delicious food will be one of the first things that comes to mind when you remember your time here. This is especially true if you visit one of the town’s many unique pizza restaurants. There are many great places to get some of that famous La Jolla pizza, but the following are some of the best La Jolla pizza restaurants.
Pizza on Pearl
People are often faced with a difficult decision between white pies and red pies here. The white pies are constructed with a delicious and fresh garlic paste, mozzarella, and Romano cheese while the red pies begin with a homemade marinara sauce, mozzarella, and Romano cheese. Once you have decided on the base, you can craft your own pizza by picking from many of the freshest ingredients in town, or go with one of their specialty pizzas like the Pear Pizza, made with ham, spinach, pear, and gorgonzola cheese. Find it at 617 Pearl Street.
Regents Pizza
The quality of the finished product comes from the quality of each and every ingredient that comes through the kitchen. Regents Pizza has one of the strongest commitments in town to fresh and locally sourced ingredients. The variety here is another big part of why they are so popular, as they offer great renditions of both New York and Chicago style pizzas. But they offer much more than pizza, as the menu also features salads, wings, pastas, sandwiches, and more. Find this awesome pizza and much more at 4150 Regents Park Row. Regents pizza is definitely one of the best La Jolla pizza restaurants!
Carino’s
While they have plenty of options for modern fare, this is the place to go in La Jolla for authentic Italian cuisine. You can find many options in this endeavor, but the most popular is the pizza. The thin crust pizzas here are among the best in town and they feature more options for unique ingredients than you will find anywhere else. The address for this one of a kind spot is 7408 La Jolla Blvd.
After Enjoying the Best La Jolla Pizza Restaurants
La Jolla may be quite far from Italy, but this distance is not apparent when you enjoy some of the pizza that is being whipped up here. Visit one of these amazing establishments or any number of other great options and find your new favorite spot for pizza. Each future visit to La Jolla is sure to feature some of this amazing La Jolla pizza.
There are plenty of great places to eat in San Diego. That said, sometimes you’re in the mood to try something new, or want to find a hidden gem before it becomes popular. In that case, you should try some of these new La Jolla restaurants that have opened their doors here this year.
La Jolla Restaurants – Himitsu
A Japanese-style place to eat in San Diego named Himitsu has opened its doors off Torrey Pines Road. The head chef has been in San Diego for over fifteen years before striking out on his own. It’s a small-plates sort of restaurant, with emphasis on nigiri sushi. It’s open Monday through Friday, so sadly it isn’t good for a weekend date. That said, the dishes available can change depending on which fish are in, so it’s always a bit of an adventure to try out. It is worth noting that Himitsu’s a bit pricey—if you’d rather be full than impressed, look for a ramen shop. This is one of the best La Jolla restaurants.
Snooze A.M. Eatery
Hardly a new La Jolla restaurant, Snooze has opened up new doors in La Jolla Village. The chain has become a consistent pleaser in multiple states, and La Jolla is happy to have this brunch option around! The service is a constant selling point at the new La Jolla Snooze; no one here leaves unhappy! The staff is so energetic, they alone can wake you up! But if they can’t, the food will—pancakes, toast, eggs, coffee—they do the best about breakfast.
Officine Buona Forchetta
Another chain that’s spreading to grace more of California, Buona Forchetta has spread to Liberty Station. Not just another pizza place, Buona Forchetta stands out with little details that create Italian authenticity (some of the staff even speak Italian!). Pizza and pasta are the standards, but don’t neglect to save room for gelato. Craft beers and wines further help Buona Forchetta stand out against its competitors. Try out this awesome place to eat in San Diego!
Cooper’s Market and Café
Back closer to home, Cooper’s Market and Café, located off La Jolla Shores Drive and Avenida de la Playa, is now open for business! Going for a local, neighborhood vibe, the deli delivers simple fare that’ll serve as a yummy pick-me-up. If you’ve never gone to a local café that’s dedicated to quality, Cooper’s may transform what you though a croissant or bagel could be! They’re also quite allergen-friendly, so gluten-free and lactose-free diners needn’t be intimidated by the menu.
