For most people the holiday season is when the sky gets dark early in the afternoon and the temperatures start to plummet. The same cannot be said for beautiful La Jolla, where the sun is always shining. You can book yourself a different kind of Thanksgiving getaway by joining us in our vacation rentals. La Jolla has a variety of activities to help you bring in this popular holiday with style. Take a look at what is waiting for you during Thanksgiving in La Jolla this year:
Enjoy a Thanksgiving Meal at Local Restaurants
If you do not want to spend your holiday vacation in the kitchen, make sure you visit one of the many La Jolla restaurants that will be offering Thanksgiving meals. A fine dining Thanksgiving meal can be found at The Marine Room, a luxury restaurant that offers incredible ocean views. Their Thanksgiving meal includes decadent options such as almond crusted swordfish and filet mignon. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made by calling 866-644-2351. For a more casual meal stop by Duke’s for their Thanksgiving Dinner Special. You will find more standard Thanksgiving fare here at the restaurant and reservations are not needed.
Run the Father Joe’s Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk
A standard Thanksgiving tradition is to run a turkey trot to help you burn off any Thanksgiving calories before the big meal. Father Joe’s Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk takes place at nearby Balboa Park in San Diego and benefits the largest homeless charity in the area. The event starts at 6:30 AM on Thanksgiving with strollers, pets, and wheelchairs being encouraged to join in on the fun. Guests can also purchase baked pies at the event to further help the charity.
Thanksgiving from “Home”
Some families may want to skip on restaurants and instead enjoy their meal with family from “home.” Your vacation rental will be your home away from home with everything you need in the kitchen. You will find spacious countertops and appliances that will make cooking and storing the food a breeze. There is also plenty of room at the dining room table for everyone to sit down at once too.
La Jolla Is Ready for Thanksgiving

The Marine Room is one of the best choices for a high-class La Jolla Thanksgiving dinner. The restaurant has breathtaking views of the ocean and is one of the best restaurants in La Jolla. They serve a special menu on Thanksgiving that includes turkey, center-cut Angus steak, and Red Walnut salmon. The restaurant will be open from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving but it does get busy, so it is recommended to make a reservation ahead of time.
Duke’s La Jolla will also be serving a special Thanksgiving Dinner. This dinner will be more of a traditional Thanksgiving meal. However, the outdoor seating on the patio offers amazing views of the ocean and Duke’s is offering one of the most affordable Thanksgiving dinners in the city.
